An open question for those who might know what the phrase "church in transition" means in the context of the LC--MS. I just finished speaking to my Thrivent rep, who mentioned that another LC--MS church in the South Bay (L.A.) had a congregational meeting last Sunday, where they voted on five propositions which, if passed, would declare themselves to be a "church in transition." This was, in his understanding, something of an official designation or the like, akin to being a Nehemiah congregation, and he was wondering if I knew what this meant. I was unable to find any information on this at the Synod's website or by searching online in general (I try not to use the word "google" as a verb-- drives me nuts). I don't know what the five resolutions were or the name of this parish, so I'm afraid I can't give you any more to go on... has anyone heard of this, or is "church in transition" being used by this parish as their own descriptor of re-organization or "repurposing" to greater outreach or the like? Thanks for your help...
