Information

1611 King James Version

This group is for anyone who admires the 1611 Authorized Version of the Holy Scriptures. It is my sincere belief that this is the finest English translation of God's Word and one of the greatest literary works in any language.

Bishop Lancelot Andrewes began every day with five hours of prayer. His prayer book was found at his death tear stained and hand worn. He is responsible for the majestic beauty of the five books of Moses in the Authorized Version.

T.S. Eliot wrote a prose work titled "For Lancelot Andrewes.' I haven't read it, but now I have more reason to desire to do so. I like alot of what Eliot wrote in 'Thoughts after Lambeth,' in which he opposes the allowance of contraception in the Anglican Church. He also wins my heart for being clear-headed enough to affirm with all the ancient and medieval witnesses of Christendom that the idea of a secular pluralist civil government (as seems to be the ideal of the contemporary western world) is not a workable possibility, never mind an ideal for which to strive. I think this is becoming more clear to us now than it was in the past (at least I hope). See 'Notes toward a definition of culture,' 'The idea of a Christian society,' and 'After strange Gods: a Primer of modern Heresy." Great stuff, all of it. It is sad he is only remembered for his poetry. The same is sad about the greatest writer of the twentieth century, G.K. Chesterton.

Dear Friends in Christ,
Greetings!
Malta is one of only two English-speaking nations (Fiji is the other) in which abortion is illegal in every case. However, the UN is currently trying to force them to change this policy.
Please join the 'Pray for Malta' group, please remember to pray that God will grant them the strength to persevere where most of the rest of the world has failed, and please spread the word.
Thanks!

Grace and peace remain with you all, in Christ, as well as my best wishes,
Sincerely,
