A great choice. Matt Harrison is a uniter with solid confessional theology and a real heart for "the least of these" around the world. He could help to build the LC-MS's reputation and influence as a nationally and internationally appealing Christocentric organization.

My heart rejoices at the news that Matt Harrison will run for president of the LCMS! Matt was my field-work supervisor and has become a dear friend to me. It is an answer to my prayers for our beloved church that a man with such a solid confession of faith would take the helm and steer us back in the right direction! He has also authored a wonderful book "Christ Have Mercy" that is a must read.

I am not LCMS (I'm a pastor with the Lutheran Church In the Philippines, the group in confessional unity with you guys. i'm pastor of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Manila), but I have been tremendously "offended" by Rev. Harrison's book, Christ Have Mercy. He talks about God's mercy without being mystical or sentimental (unlike Philip Yancey). My wife and I read daily from Rev. Harrison's book during our devotions. If you need an extra nomination, you got mine. With a heart full of mercy, I have no doubt he will be the best president of LCMS yet.
Oh. How'd I get the book,. Christ Have Mercy? Won it in a radio show. Hehehe. Thanks, Bryan and Evan!

I think this is a pretty good introduction to the type of pastor Rev. Harrison is.
