Hello,
I was in Ohio before I moved to the Netherlands. Went to Bethel Lutheran in Willowick just outside of Cleveland. I hope that an ex Ohio Lutheran can still hang out here :)

I find none other than Reformed. Believe it or not the Lutheran Church here is gone. They went together with a couple other church bodies to form the PKN. So all I get is what I find on the internet.

Sorry... internet and sermons from here

I only know that they do have a day set aside for Luther. But the story always ends with, "it's too bad that he didn't go far enough". Most of what I see here is the basic "you are a Christian now... try harder to do better"...

If interested in seeing the REAL danger of a "wishy-washy" church and what will happen if we don't fight for the truth, check out:
PKN
and see what has happened to the "Lutheran" church. Makes me sick to see what the lcms is trying to do... much like what has happened here I'm afraid.

Does anyone here know if the lcms has control over CPH? Do any of you still trust the resources from anything lcms?
Comment by Elizabeth on April 10, 2008 at 3:55am
Yes, LC-MS controls CPH. Paul McCain has a position in CPH and is also a popular blogger. He often writes about new material from CPH. Here
are some of his posts.

I am like Matt in that I grew up in Cleveland - Lyndhurst actually - I was baptized at Zion Lutheran, my parents transferred to St. John's, South Euclid and I attended elementary school there. I then went to Cleveland Lutheran High School East and after graduation went to Concordia, River Forest. I married a Canadian and am in Alberta now - but Cleveland, Ohio is home for me. I love the State of Ohio. We belong to The Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd (Lutheran Church - Canada.) It has been interesting as I had to go and insist that the liturgy from the hymnal be used - I told the minister I was dying on the vine that he was given to tend - I got the liturgy from the hymnal once a month. (No additions, No deletions, No Substitutions) That was a year ago and since then we are using the liturgy and hymnal more and more. I was not alone, I just had to be the one to be bold enough to speak out. I think that's because I am the American. :D Thanks be to God.

Please accept me as an honorary member. For some reason I always thought 'Dan at Necessary Roughness' was from Detroit. Silly me. I read his blog from time to time.

I was born and raised in Marion, Ohio, and went to Ohio State and then the University of Toledo. I didn't become a Lutheran until moving to Michigan where I now live. My wife and family visit Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Marion when we go home to visit my parents. Ohio is the best state in the union!

Hello all! Glad to see this group started. Eric, it's good to see your post here, my friend. Take courage, friends, there are a number of confessional churches here in Ohio. Our district president is a good, solid guy. Also, one of the vice presidents, Jack Davidson from Lancaster, is a strong, confessional pastor. If anyone is interested, our church, Gethsemane Lutheran in Marion, is sponsoring the second annual conference on the Augsburg Confession. The keynote will be on baptism. There will be breakout sessions on Original Sin, Free Will, On the Use of the Sacraments, and Good Works; articles 9, 2, 18, 13, and 6 respectively. The conference will be on June 28th, a Saturday. We are planning on Professor Schulz from CTSFW to give the keynote. There will be some Ohio pastors there to do the breakout sessions; Pr. Davidson from Redeemer in Lancaster, Pastor Mohr from Concordia in Findlay, Pr. Mills from Grace in Akron, and myself, Pr. Cornelius, from Gethsemane. It will begin at 9:00 AM with a Divine Service and end at around 4:00 with a Vespers service. You can email me for information or call our church at 740-375-0599. We will have the information posted on our website shortly at www.gethsemane-lcms.org Give us a few days to update the information. Right now I think we still have last years information.
I look forward to getting to know you all as we continue discussion here in this group.
Oh, if you're interested, I have a blog at www.gardenofgethsemane.blogspot.com
