Sabbatical

It is unfortunate that since the big "shutdown" traffic on this site has fallen off dramatically. In my daily reading, I recently read the instruction in Exodus 23 about letting farm land lie fallow 1 year out of 7. This led to a discussion about how that could apply to the church in the 21st century. The responses were very interesting, and we had a good, albeit short discussion. One man, a retired university professor, suggested that this could be used to justify the idea of a periodic…See More

Folks, In our Church body it is traditional for pastors, vicars and seminary students to wear a clerical collar. In my own ministry, I have found this useful, if for no other reason than that the collar identifies me when I am out and about. This is not a major theological issue, but what is the history of the collar, and why would it be important that the shirt be black?See More
