Tell us about yourself ( e.g. hobbies, education, projects you are working on, etc.). What brings you to the Wittenberg Trail?
I have been a confessing Lutheran for 48 years and have spent much of my time teaching and developing Bible studies, study of the confessions, and booklets on Reformation history and good church government. Recently, I was one of the organizers of Confessional Lutherans for Christ's Commission (CLCC), and serve as that group's elected Treasurer and on the Board of Directors.

I will be one of CLCC's lecturers in local seminars focused on training the laity in those topics which have not been taught in most Lutheran churches for over 40 years. I am also available for free consultation on church organization and administrative, as well financial and project management topics.

Gary, if I had to identify where the most help is needed it would be in recruitment of new members and helping to set up and conduct local seminars. We have a great need for these two things to carry out our work program. Can you help create interest in doing one of our seminars or encourage congregations to use one of our Bible studies? We have products in the approval pipeline as we speak, but organizing a seminar takes some time and effort, basically pick and shovel work. I have created two Word documents to assist in this effort and they are titled "How to Plan a CLCC Seminar" and "How to Conduct a CLCC Seminar." The last title has nothing to do with being the instructor, but rather the logistics and hosptitality, etc.

Gene,

The study on the Epitome sounds like something I could use.
Let me know when it is ready. I am about to finish our study on the A.C. in the next couple of weeks and will be starting a new
Tuesday morning study in September. My congregation (The Evangelical Lutheran Church of Our Savior) will be celebrating its 75th/125th (incorporated/inception) anniversary in 2009. We are having our "big" celebration in October and I am thinking it may be a great part of the celebration to conduct a Reformation Seminar in October 2009. We have been hosting special Reformation services and celebrations over the last few years with dressed up Reformation characters sharing short biographies or the kids sharing a skit about life in the busy Luther home. Tying in a Reformation seminar would be a grand way to celebrate our anniversary in 2009. I'll check out your document on "How to Conduct a CLCC Seminar" and share my idea with our Anniversary Committee.
Thanks!

Gene,

If you would like to e-mail these two items to me I would appreciate it. Our gracious Good Shepherd bless your day.

Pastor Paul Sajban

P.S. By the way, if you are in touch with Pr. Simcak, ask him if he has any connection with the Garfield, N.J. Slovaks. This is the congregation of my Lutheran Slovak roots family. Holy Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church is still hanging in there. It is now located in the midst of a changing neighborhood.

I'm interested in ways to 'assimilate' new members without the spiritual gifts emphasis. We are new members at our particular church and we are beginning given an opportunity to do revamping of the process.

Gene:
I just finished posting a discussion about a book called 'Winning on Purpose'(here is a link to that post) when I came accross the CLCC group and their website. I saw that there is a leadership conference scheduled in August, not just that, but not far from me here in Oregon! This is definitely an answer to my prayers.
Just wanted to say hello and thank you for the work you are doing!

Sorry, I changed it to a mural of Fredrick the Wise etched into the wall of the royal stables in Dresden. The church interior was just too light for use in this application.
