Tell us about yourself ( e.g. hobbies, education, projects you are working on, etc.). What brings you to the Wittenberg Trail?
Hi, my name is Joel and I am a baptized child of God. I thoroughly enjoy learning more about the faith. I would love to make some connections with my fellow confessional Lutheran brothers and sisters. One good thing to come out of the canning of Issues, Etc. was seeing the multitude of fellow believers rally around Jeff and Todd. It showed me that I am not alone in my convictions. This was very uplifting and encouraging to me.

I am searching for someone suitable to marry. There are of course many important practicalities to consider in this process. However, if I had to pick one thing as being most critically important, I would say that her placing a high value on confessional Lutheran doctrine and practice would be it.

I am an Issues, Etc. and White Horse Inn junkie. :-)

I love the historic liturgy and hymnody of our Lutheran heritage. The Lord delights to give us his gifts through Word and Sacrament in the Divine Service. I go to church to hear Law and Gospel preaching, with the Gospel predominating. Every Sunday I need the assurance of the forgiveness of sins -- this satisfies the Christian's biggest need.

I've been very stuck by the line from Rock of Ages: "Nothing in my hand I bring, simply to Thy cross I cling." This statement is so profound. It summarizes the Christian life. I consider this to be my life motto (insofar as I am able to follow it, being both saint and sinner).

Since I live in Wisconsin, I am an obligatory Packers fan. :-)

Thanks, Joel.  I haven't been on WT for a while now, but I was pleased to get your note.  Have you been able to see my caringbridge site?  caringbridge.org/visit/robjarvis.  You'll see by it, that I have now had the transplant and am on day 4--when things start getting kind of rough.
