I hope you're having a good vicarage. I'm serving a congregation that is diagonally across the country from you, in Palm Bay, Fl, which is relatively near Orlando. I'm glad you found this portal/network, and I hope you get involved in some of the forums.
I am not affiliated with any denomination. I have gone to both Episcopal and Catholic churches during my lifetime. Episcopal with my mother and father and Catholic with my grandma for a year. My wife and I have not yet attended a church but we are going this Sunday. We also plan on going to the Adult Information classes starting in two weeks. I have purchased a copy of the Concordia and we have been reading and studying that for the last two weeks. Thank you for the links, I look forward to watching them.
Hi Jon,
Sorry it took me so long to get back (you know, Lent and all). Anyway, good to hear from a Minnesotan (although it seems like every LCMS member in the world is somehow connected back here in the Promised Land. Never in my wildest dreams did I realize that a trip to Mankato was a trip to the big city! I hope all is well with Herr Bishop, tell him his favorite ex-vicar says "hi", and no it's not Bob.
I actually like Rev. Ginkel's stuff. The material is set up much like the material Pastor Lassman uses but it's a shorter class (10 weeks as opposed to 15). What I don't like about it is that it doesn't have a lesson just about justification but I added a week to cover it and it hasn't been a problem. Since much of it is similar to Pastor Lassman's AIC, I use many of the same handouts and illustrations. The problem I have is that after the first class, I haven't had any interest from members or non-members. I'm currently taking a hiatus from AIC and I'm going to take my members who are interested through a program to get to our inactive members (although the response to that has been poor as well). Oh well, I'll just keep being faithful and the Lord will do as He wills.
Yes, 15 days from today. We are looking forward to finding out where we're going, but not too nervous. More nervous about the baby coming, I suppose. How's things with you?
Sorry about the late response, I do a lot of Facebooking and now I am trying to keep up with WT. It is a great website however (WT). Things are going well, I am in Irvine, CA at the moment visiting Concordia. Next week I will be in Portland at Concordia. I used to run up to Seattle and the like when I flew out to Portland but we have other guys for that now. I enjoyed my time in Seattle when I was out there. I am doing well, traveling here and there. Last week I was in Bronxville, NY and Seward, NE. The week before I was up in the Twin Cities. How's life with you? You said things are going well?
Hi Jon,
Tell Kara Hi...my email is getting slower and slower...so I am contacting you this way.
When are you done with your vicarage?
I have been listening to yours and Pastor Lassman's Sermons and have really enjoyed them. I also listened to the Church Disipline Educational Hours and now your study on Ephesians.
I am sending Clayton along with his cousin, Blake Herb(Pastor Dan Herb's nephew), to the Confirmation Retreat that Pastor Lassman is doing at the CTS at the end of this month. I am sure it will be a wonderful experience for the boys...Sem. Lance Klamer is going to be their chaperone.
Well, keep up the great work!! We are looking forward to your return!

Great to hear from you. Blessings on your work in Washington and back at Ft.Wayne! Hopefully we can stay in touch a bit on this site.

I haven't had a chance to take Francisco for anything this year, but maybe 4th year.
Take care, Pr. Dreyer
