Happy Wednesday!I'm getting ready for the fall semester. I can't believe I'm already halfway through my MA in Deaconess studies! Hi, great to be here... UNFORTUNATELY, since ning. com is the hostsite of wittenbergtrail, and since some of thier sites also contain R rated material, i cannot access this from the school computer... and that's the only one i can use on weekdays... oh well.

Hi Lisa, I just visited the "With Disabilities but not without Blessings" group and saw the discussion you started asking "Does anyone like to read out loud?" You gave a list of books you'd like to read but have not been able to. Is that correct? Forgive me if I have misinterpreted, but are you hoping folks will tape themselves reading these books out loud so you can then listen to them? If so, I would be happy to try to help you with that. I'm no professional and I'd have to start with one of the simpler books on your list, but I'd be happy to give it a try! :-)

Hello again, Lisa, It has just occurred to me that taping the reading of a book is probably illegal - copyright infringement. What about reading over the phone?

Hi Lisa! It's great to hear back from you. I think recording of any kind is copyright infringement. The exact statement at the front of one CPH book is "All rights reserved. No part of this publication may be reproduced, stored in a retrieval system, or transmitted, in any form or by any means, electronic, mechanical, photocopying, recording, or otherwise, without the prior written permission of Concordia Publishing House." So the next step is for me to contact them and ask. I see that Paul McCain is one of your friends; perhaps you prefer to ask him directly. But I am happy to write them and explain our reason and exactly what form of recording I'd be doing. Regarding the books you're interested in; I've already got quite a few of them on my shelves and I'm happy to purchase a copy of whatever you listed that I don't have. I've had the good habit of buying great theological books :-) and the bad habit of not reading them. :-( But right now I'm in a big life change and one of the changes I hope to make is to finally read these awesome books! So, reading to share with you is wonderful motivation. I already read aloud to myself a lot of the time since that helps me remember and understand better. Regarding payment; that hadn't even occurred to me and it's quite unnecessary. No doubt our Lord will work this to be a blessing to both of us! And if you are interested, yes, it would be fun to have a "two person reading group" and discuss the chapters as we cover them. Let me know what you think. First step is getting approval from CPH.

Good to have you as a friend here at Wittenbergtrail. I had the pleasure of meeting Gene Veith several years ago (Schwan Ctr, Trego Wis.), wonderful man...had to have him autograph "Spirituality of the Cross"...timeless reading. A blessed Easter season to you!!!
