"I totally disagree with you. It is not hyperbole, it is what was said. The Word of God is not to be interpreted by you or I, it is God inspired and scripture should be interpreted by scripture. "

"Your Pastor should address all this privately with the Elders and let them handle it as a group in love. Careful to approach this with a kind heart and loving spirit.....hurt is hard to fix. God Bless You and may God move in the Church."

Hi, Lucas!
My name is Rik, and I saw your discussion in the New Member group.
If your public library gets books from elsewhere though interlibrary loan, see if you can find WELS and Other Lutherans by John F. Brug, Edward C. Fredrich II, and Armin Schuetze (1995, Northwestern Publishing House, Milwaukee, WI). Better yet, there is a Second Edition of that book just out, by John F. Brug (LU15N0766). If you're interested in purchasing this book, NPH (1-800-662-6022) currently has a deal where you get a free book "Positively Luthran: A Simple Statement of What Lutherans Believe." when you order the Wels & Other Luth (2nd ed.) for the same price as the one book--Ask for offer LU15N0768 for both books. Northwestern Publishing House (NPH) is the publishing house of the Wisconsin Synod (WELS). They are somewhat close to the Missouri Synod, and are conservative and confessional. I hope this helps!

I'm glad it helped! The doctrine we have wrestled with is that of Church Fellowship. LCMS has the "Levels of fellowship" concept and WELS has the "unit concept." WELS.net is another good resource, although they recently updated their website. Their older Q & A dealt with questions from basic to advanced, yet their current website seems geared more for more basic questions. I don't know if ir how to locate their older bank of Q & A. It was awesome!
