Take CPH’s Technology Survey For a Chance to Win a Free Kindle

Concordia Publishing House is very interested in how you use digital technology, both in your personal life and in your congregation. Would you take a few minutes to complete a 10-minute survey that will help them understand how to serve you best with resources in a wide variety of digital formats and options?

CPH will be giving away three Kindles to people who fully complete the survey, the names to be drawn at random from the total number of participants in the…

Funding the future of the Wittenberg Trail

The Wittenberg Trail is built on the NING system of networks (see the top bar). They announced a bit ago that they are going to cut support of free networks (supposedly supported by ads you see to the right on every page) in favor of paying networks.

They have set the rate for networks at $20/month or $200/year.

I'm not sure if we have until July 1st or…

Bible Linking now Automatic on the Trail

You may not have noticed it, but I recently added the automatic linking of bible verses on all pages on the Wittenberg Trail.

If you refer to a bible verse in "standard" format, e.g. John 3:16, you will notice that it underlines and links it.

If you hold your mouse over the link, a popup will appear showing the version. You an click "more" to see more of the verse or context, or you can click directly on the link to go to the same…

Issues / Comments regarding creating a separate website for "community" aspects of the WittenbergTrail

There's quite a discussion going on as to why people left the original trail.

Things that I've heard:

The comments to discussions are hard to follow and confusing.

* I've changed the discussion reply format to "flat" rather than "threaded" and have lots of good comments about how it is much clearer now.

It is hard to find new things on the Trail

The Trail lost its original focus and there is a lot of non-lutheran… Continue

Norm, out of curiosity, Is Tappert still covered by Copyright (© 1959 Fortress Press)? When will it / did it become public domain? I'm not sure how it works with renewal of copyrights, etc. I would be interested in seeing Article IV [Justification] of the AC in Kolb/Wenggert, but can't afford it yet. (Does KW include both the translation from the German AND the Latin, as is found in Tappert?)

Norm, thank for getting this back up and going. One question? Is there anyway to have the notes and messages in our profiles to be the newest first rather than the oldest?

Thanks for restoring all our data too.

Hey Norm,

I've contemplated the idea of getting something like our district faithful lists on a network like this.  I'm not sure of the future of e-mail, but "district limited" discussions seem like they would be good for districts?  What do you think?  I noticed Joel Garbisch just joined your "Ask the Pastor."  There's a hunger for these networks.  MNNFaithful hasn't been doing too much lately, and I haven't been in the mood--not to mention the district--to do anything about it.  Anything happening with that ELCA/LCMS DVD?  I was so pleased when I got it into Ken Ring's hands for Lutheran Visuals, but I don't think he has a mention of it in his site.  At least, he didn't a couple months ago.  Thanks.
