"Cheryl, See this site: http://justandsinner.blogspot.com/2009/09/lutheranism-and-covenant-theology.html   I can say that Lutherans tend to stay away from using the word "covenant" much, because it implies action on both sides. …"

Rev. Joshua V. Scheer replied to Thomas M's discussion Law and gospel question in the group Ask the Pastor
"Mk 16:15 is law, as far as the Office of the Ministry is concerned, but it is Gospel for Christians (God providing the preaching of the Word for their salvation). This is the same as Mt 28:18-20, where it is Gospel for the Christian, but law for the…"

Rev. Joshua V. Scheer replied to Paul Thompson's discussion Decided Seminary over SMP. Now, which seminary? in the group Ask the Pastor

Rev. Joshua V. Scheer replied to Maria Jonsson's discussion Cursing by God's name in the Psalms? in the group Ask the Pastor

Rev. Joshua V. Scheer replied to Greg Waldrop's discussion Who can forgive sins? in the group Ask the Pastor

Pastor,
I'm enjoying listening to the recent mission/missionary discussion. Please keep writing as much as you can. I'm learning so much. One thing I've figured out is whyI always felt awkward calling myself a missionary.

The more I learn from pastors like yourself, the more I wonder why I never grasped these things when I was much younger. I have an inkling that I was infected with the CGM virus long before we recognized it. Well, I praise God that He has protected me thus far, and that my eyesight has become a little clearer.

I bookmarked your congregation's homepage, too. I like it.

What's going on my brother? We haven't talked in quite a while.
I hope you, Holly, Maddie, and Genevieve are all doing well! I hope I spelled your daughters names correctly. How is life in the parish? Things here are good. One quarter down, two more to go. We're all done with our interviews for placement. Now... we just wait.

Blessings,
Jon

Pastor,

How are you all doing? We are going to Mobile, Alabama for vicarage. The church is called Holy Cross Lutheran. Anyway...I started finally reading that book you recommended; 'The Borderland between Right and Wrong'...the one on adiaphora. Good stuff. Anyway, just thought I would say hi.

I am not allowed to comment on the Trail Guide Forum, because I am not a Trail Guide Pastor or looking into Lutheranism, so I will comment here, if I may. I thought your answer was very good concerning reading other things than Lutheranism to learn what is being said, taught, etc outside of Lutheranism and glad you do.
I would hope you would interject that these teachings are not givn in our churches and why. I have recently left my church because of other teachings, not Lutheran.
I am in a Lutheran church and expect Lutheran preaching and teaching.
A comparison would be fine, however, if beneficial in some case.
Just my 2 peneth, if you don't mind.
