"How dull it is to pause, to make an end,
To rust unburnish'd, not to shine in use!" -- Alfred, Lord Tennyson

I'm looking for like-minded Confessional people and discussion. I've worked with youth for the past 18 years in both secular and ecclesiastical agencies, and I'm currently working as the manager the Amelia Community Center in Amelia (obviously), LA, until the end of this week! My wife, Faith, and I have 3 children: Alexis (12), and the terrible twins Michael and Molly (4). CALLED and Ordained

As I write this, it's been four years, five months and seven days since I've been a parish pastor. It's been an interesting period--as in the old Chinese curse: "May you live in interesting times." We moved to Louisiana from Ohio. We had the twins. We've lived in three different houses and two… Continue

Sermon for 12/6/09--Second Sunday in Advent (LSB-C)

Pastor Brandon Simoneaux of Christ Our Savior Lutheran Church in Harvey, Louisiana, called me this week to ask me to fill in for him. He will be traveling this weekend with his wife for the funeral of a family member. Though I regret the circumstances which make it necessary, it will be my privilege and… Continue

Hello Alan,

Good to hear from you. We seem to share a number of venues together. I am just getting my feet wet here and it looks kinda neat.

Blessings to you my friend.

Pastor Kornacki,
Wow twins congrats!! you must have just signed out after I sent that last night. I am out in Phoenix, but I am from Michigan. I am also married and have 2 children Thomas 12 and Miranda 8. We moved out here for my husband to have a job (things are pretty grim in Michigan) and He and I have cousins and Aunts and Uncles out here both of us do. I came to the trail because of the loss of Issues ETC on KFUO. I would download and listen daily to my MP3 player. When we moved out here we started looking for a church right away. I of course, looked into the LCMS on line. did some research and also asked my Pastor in Michigan for some help. I have found that the Chruches close to my home are to progressive for my self and my family. We came from a very traditional Lutheran Church in Michigan, we had a great confessional Pastor, I taught Sunday School, my children and myself were in handbells and Choir, I attended Wednesday morning bible study I loved being in the Lords house. I just with things were more traditional out here, the closest church that is like the one I came from is over 50 miles from our home. So the reason I came to the trail is because without Issues ETC I was looking for like-minded Lutheran to chat with.
Peace,
Teresa Mitchell

Hey, Alan -- Great pic's here. Thanks for adding me. I thought that I had remembered that you are desirous of a Call. There MIGHT be the possibility of something turning up in our area in the next few months -- but we will be having to visit w/ the DP, etc. before all of that stuff happens.
Thanks for the heads up on the congregation at Foley, AL. They were only 1/2 hour from where we were, and the congregation used the liturgy (!!!!!). Alas, it appears to me that they are struggling with the same thing w/ which most of us are wrestling: the demographics and the aging population.
Anyhow, thanks for the tip on them. Peace! - Alan Wollenburg

Hi, Alan. Nice to know someone shares my eternal CRM status, Polish ancestry (mixed in my case), and love of Confessional Lutheran discussion (a.k.a. "constant arguing"). The kids look great. Ontario to Louisiana sounds like a jarring move. Hope it's all OK.

Alan, thanks for the invite. As some others, I'm still learning about this new land called WT. I was eternal CRM until renewals ran out just after I qualified for EM status. I pray that you will soon receive a call to serve to Lord's sheep. Paul A. Bartz
