"There is "settled law" for a great deal. Just many, including in the legal profession "precedent" which re-interprets this law. We have anti-nomianism coupled with pietism running the show. Odd bed-fellows, but they…"

"I love them because they are the anti-Pentecostal / Charismatic / Enthusiasm part of our Confessions. We Lutherans need to get back to knowing what they say. We are no longer subscribing."

I am a pastor of 2 rural congregations in the North Mid West...a placed called Wiss-cawn-sin, emphasis on the middle syllable. I am a Wittenberger, or a Gnesio-Lutheran, if that makes things more clear. May Matthias Flacius (Illyricus) rest in peace and his example be among us. I am always looking to be connected with others of the same confession.

They do grow up quick. I was just looking at your family pix--be nice to them, they'll be picking out your nursing home before you know it!

Hi David. Luther is treating me fine, though sometimes I have to pray for patience as I try to figure out what his obscure German words mean. I'm editing a long sermon right now on the temptation of Christ. I think these texts will be a great help to the Church. I think I enjoy working on Gerhard's Theological Commonplaces even more than Luther, though. I hope all is well for you!

David,

Good to hear from you!

I'm serving in a small congregation in New Mexico. It is a church plant. This year we average 38 people in service. We live in a community of under 20,000 people.

This Sunday I will be installed as the Pastor of this congregation. Previously I served this group as Associate Pastor of closest LCMS congregation (in Santa Fe).

My dad (Rev. Ted Mayes) is working on the translation of Baier-Walther. One day, I will probably edit his translation. This will be many years down the road at the rate things are going now.

Hi Pastor Emmons. I saw your group for Lutheran Classical Homeschoolers. I just thought I'd let you know that there are two classical education groups and a Lutheran homeschool group. Now, yours narrows it down even more, to Lutheran Classical Homeschoolers, so maybe it will be different. But check out the other groups too. :)

We are classical homeschoolers too. I absolutely love it because I love teaching my children and I had a very progressive education up until college, so I am learning all the things I SHOULD'VE been taught in school. It is a wonderful oppurtunity.

Things are great in the NED, David... though I will be leaving at the end of July to begin a PhD program at the University of Virginia ... lots of new stuff to look forward to. Blessings on your ministry!

Peace,
Ben

Hey, sure thing. I just searched through GoogleImages with the phrases "heavenly mass" and "heavenly liturgy" until I found something that I thought really conveys how the liturgy rhythmically ushers us into the heavenly holy of holies/throne room/altar as Christ steps off his altar-throne to greet us in his body and blood, and that's what I eventually picked. The original picture is from here:

(Obviously, I used Paint to chop off the bottom.)
