It takes some real panache to put Nick Nolte's mugshot on your page. That is truly awesome. I busted a gut when I saw this. I just wish I had thought of it.

Scott,
Since I am long on opinion and short on time... usually the case... I'll try and give you the Cliff Notes:
1. Oprah doesn't think "Jesus came to start Christianity".
2. Tolle seems to suggest that "we are all god" and if we would all come to a "higher power of consciousness" we together would achieve the thing with which we are all destined.
3. Labels are bad... we should label nothing. Start with "delabeling nature" and work your way into "delabeling people."
4.Oh... and the reason "Jesus came" was to show us a "Jesus Consciousness" whatever that is:)
5. Check out the video I posted... Oprah Explains Christianity.
Thanks for reading my thoughts...
also, to say that Oprah in the modern day Luther makes me want to drink all that beer that is sitting in front of you on your pic!:) I'd like to see Warren and Melanchthon in an old fashioned leg wrestling contest... wearing Hawaiian Shirts, of course. :)Delete Comment

"This is something the Missouri Synod needs to remember! It should prefer to go out of business rather than let the church suffer harm by its continued existence. Those who want to see the Synod continue under all circumstances, regardless of whether that should harm the kingdom of Christ, are not being led by the Spirit of Christ but by the spirit of selfishness, and instead of being a building stone in the kingdom of Christ, they are a hindrance to God."
- from C.F.W. Walther's essay to Iowa District, 1879

Scott, I liked your Walther quote. I checked my copy of Convention Essays (Tr. Aug.R. Suelflow) Selected Writings of C.F.W. Walther (CPH,1981), and it wasn't in there!

Do you remember your source for this quote? I'd be interested in looking it up! -Rik.
