The Rev. Richard John Neuhaus (right), one of the leading conservative voices in contemporary American Catholicism, died this morning at 72. Here is the announcement from Joseph Bottum, the editor of the journal Neuhaus founded, First Things:

You've got a great pastor. Sit at his feet and drink in the pure doctrine he has sworn to uphold. Also, if you can, get close to Gerald Krispin. It'll be harder now that he's the pres but he has guided me from the scourge of pietism to the one true faith and is still a close friend. Plus, he smokes cigars.

Chapel went quite well. So far no charges of false doctrine. I was impressed at the complexities of answers that the kids gave - especially the younger ones. It did my heart well to see the Gospel have its way with them. Thanks for the invite.
